Python Dub

Donnerstag, Mai 20th, 2004

Yesterday was a pretty exciting adventure day!
The diving was some proper action already, but – just as that had not been enough – I arrived home after my programming workshop to find Carlo and Jens hanging around in our garden, being totally excited…. We had a nice 2.5 meters Python in our trees!

Pretty beautiful, but quite scary as well….. to impress you all a bit, i attached a little clip (see below) and put some pictures in the “TIERE” gallery.

Later in the night, I went to the “Great Northern” to see New Zealands top act “Salmonella Dub” and the nice and irie “Cornerstone Roots” band. Patrick and Tinka asked me to join them, so I did – it was really worth it (17 bucks), but – as always in small clubs – far too loud.

That’s all for now, see you later

Diving the bay

Mittwoch, Mai 19th, 2004

I have just been snorkeling and quickly want to tell the world that I survived!

I went to the main beach to meet Matt, Kate and Jake and another american guy and – off we went…

Amazing things happen underwater, I met thousands of different fish as well as massive sharks (scary but they were being lazy and hanging around on the ground), big turtles and a stingray.

Matt and the american guy told me about some strange named shark (obviously I forgot the name), orange brownish with interesting patterns. I didn’t see it as I lost the rest of the group earlier and went out. Boring Lasse, but swimming around for 40 minutes is rather exhausting, especially if you haven’t done any sports for weeks!

However, I took my underwater cam with me and now I am waiting for the pictures which I’ll upload in a week or so. I guess they will be quite dark anyway but may be enough to let you know how it looks down here.

See you later

Eurovision Song Contest

Mittwoch, Mai 12th, 2004

aloha,

I hope everybody enjoyed the show…. I think it was crap (big time), but I liked the Ukraine and – of course – Max the Man. But it couldn’t get much funnier than those little Guys from Austria, could it? Just to remind you who it was, I’ve found this nice little pic on the net: “Tie Break”

I am still wondering how they managed to enter the contest (= they must have been chosen from the austrian people!)…. however, I am currently listening to “Athena”, the band which invented “turkish ska” and came up with the nice “Turkish Delight” shirt….. and I must say, it is a nice album (“Athena – Holigan”), although I cannot understand a single (turkish) word….. Almost forgot: I think Stefan Raab in his role as the german guitar player(in the background behind Max loosing his voice) was pretty cool as well.

However, I keep on working. See you later

…addicted to The Cat Empire

Mittwoch, Mai 12th, 2004

Aloha, i must admit: i am totally addicted. cannot stop listening to “The Cat Empire”, they are definitely in the book of crazy musicians, and I recommend just buying their albums…. nooo, I don’t get anything out of it.

Being honest, it is just great music and worth a try for y’all. puh. had to be said. And by the way, their web page is quite fancy as well!

Nothing else to say – yesterday was one of the hardest days, I got up at around eight, worked in the morning till half past 12, went to school till 4, went back home, returned to school at 4.45 and came home at around midnight after workshops and a meeting with my marketing-teammates Patrick and Fabian…. it is not much better today, but at least I just found some time to tell you guys. by the way, do you all enjoy the webcam? I finally figured out how to adjust it to the bright sunlight outside (hey, just took me 9 months!)… the foggy feature is our mosquito net….

so – have to start working again,
see you soon

…sorry for being so quiet

Samstag, Mai 8th, 2004

Hi there,

sorry for being so “lazy”, but firstly, my computer was not working for a couple of weeks (almost), and secondly my parents came to visit and took my girlfriend….. so, Julia has left for a little break in Bielefeld, studying….not much happening here anymore. I am working all day trying not to be too lonesome, and during breaks, I call her!

However, as you can see, not much time for gonesurfin

…but, as a little excuse, I uploaded the following little clip and will try to write a little note every now and then.

See you later,
Lasse

Hi there. I have just found myself sitting in front of my computer, haven’t slept last night because today was one of those big days…..the due – date of several assignments.

Always the same: Now – as a thoughtful, reasonable person – I promise not to be so (let’s call it:) “time optimistic” ever again. however, I actually just wanted to say that I am still alive…. and that we are having a nice cocktail party next week. We are selling tickets in advance, to be able to calculate the amount of drinks we need – will surely be a lot of fun. However, I hope that you are all fine.

See you soon

Just to let you know…

Dienstag, März 16th, 2004

…what happened that night (at Matt’s concert): somebody sent me a pic. You can have a look at it at the bottom of this page. uuhmmmm, strangely enough: I wasn’t drunk though. But anyway, looks like we had a bit of fun. However, just in case you haven’t had a look at the last article, there are two videos in there, and they are worth watching!

Ilka arrived yesterday, and we have already uploaded some pictures (eg this)- in the “Byron Bay” gallery.

Now – back to work! We got our research proposals back today (our “plans” how to write our Bachelor research projects), and i did pretty well actually. I got 5 points out of 20, with zero points being the top mark.

See you later

Nice 3D Views of Byron Bay

Dienstag, März 16th, 2004

Hi folks,

just found something very nice. The Byron Bay Homepage offers some nice VR Tours of the nicest spots and beaches – Wategoes beach is our favourite. You can find all of it here or in the link section….

» Byron Bay – 3D Tours

…and when talking about links, my heavily used links can be found here: My litte linkpage

That’s all for now. Lectures at the moment are about business plans, legal issues, accounting and promotion / marketing. Sounds great, but since we have only had one lecture today, I can’t say much (being honest: today was pretty boring – lecturer cannot speak loudly and doesn’t have much to say actually)….

So: see you later.

About Palmtrees, Dolphins etc.

Freitag, Februar 27th, 2004

Hi out there,

i’ve just decided to start writing articles in english, on the one hand for all our beloved australian / english / polish / swedish / …. friends and on the other hand just because I live here and it is already annoying me to speak german all day (all the multimedia students are german actually) without experiencing any improvements in my english abilities.

But, the reason for writing is a different one!

I bought my first (and only for the next weeks) surfboard last week, and therefore should be called “hot brown surfer-guy” from now on! I must admit that it is more difficult than I expected it to be, but i manage it quite well i think…. There will be some pictures “in action” in that surfing Australia gallery very soon, i just have to get these fancy little underwater cams, availabe for 20 bucks at our local Woolies.

However, today was the big day. Not only the swell was perfect for me (ok, waves too big and i shitted my pants), but all of the sudden, I found myself in the middle of a swarm of dolphins, only half a metre away, squealing and jumping around in the dusk. Yet another time, I realized that I am currently living in paradise. Tinka was so nice to send me two videos she made from that time and that day.

The movies can be found here (Nr 1) and here (Patrick is happy!). The Codec is Xvid and can be found here.

Tonight we are going to see Matt playing in “The great Northern Hotel”, with his band “Very”.

Some demotracks can be found here. It is quite funky i think, but check them out, I was told he didn’t have his “normal” band with him that night, so it should be even better today.

Anyway, lots of love and see you soon (hmm)

Lasse
